The Vintage Spool in her studio in Danville, California. Her romantic and timeless aesthetic is featured in her textile design, quilt patterns and her book, A Sewn Vintage Lifestyle. She has also taught quilt making in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years and holds several Vintage Spool workshops for appliqué enthusiasts numerous times a year.
Verna Mosquera started The Vintage Spool in 2004. The company distributes over 30 quilt patterns worldwide. Verna’s signature design style is vintage inspired, romantic and timeless. Each quilt design is made utilizing a sophisticated appliqué technique in which multiple layers of fabric are sewn together. Verna's designs have been featured in quilting books and magazines worldwide.
In 2013 author of A Sewn Vintage Lifestyle, Verna Mosquera, showed readers how to add a romantic, vintage style to their everyday lives through 20 charming, useful and beautiful sewn projects. Featuring Verna's immediately recognizable appliqué designs and a shabby chic aesthetic in everything from appliquéd quilts to embroidered wall art to patchwork pillows and bags.

Verna's collections have been used in quilt making, ladies and children's wear and home decor.
Verna has been teaching quilting in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years. Each year The Vintage Spool pattern company hosts three retreats for appliqué enthusiasts. Verna’s retreats give students close access to her teachings from beginning quilt-making to advanced piecing and appliqué work.
